![]() ![]() i guess all in all, i really like it here because it’s a break from the college rec center. they do a lot of community work, with special needs, and the (very) elderly, which i think is incredible, and they have a ton of drop in fitness classes which i find to be pretty high quality (mainly just yoga, because that’s what i know about i did nia dance one time and was a little overwhelmed, i’m just not meant to dance, not even in an exercise-y, zen way apparently). they have a therapy pool, lap pool, really awesome kids pool with tons of fun things to play on, a gym, track, treadmills etc. ![]() it’s new, it’s modern, and chock full of everything i need, although i’ve heard my dad say it’s not very good for circuit workouts, which i don’t do. I love this rec center, and not only because it’s a bikes ride away from my house. All in all, it’s a very nice place to work out or take a class, in Littleton. Passes - you can purchase punch cards, or walk in a pay, which is what we did today. Parking - lots and lots of parking, in a private lot. There are individual classrooms, where you can take various classes. The indoor pool area is HUGE! There is a lap pool, a therapeutic pool, and a lazy river type pool, which I have been in, and it’s a kick! There is a nice seating/waiting area when you first walk into the center, with a large screen television. All you have to do is plug in your earphones to the little speaker on each of the machines, and watch/listen to whatever is up on one of them. There are 5 – 6 televisions that are up on the wall. There is a cardio room, with plenty of modern up-to-date equipment such as treadmills, cross trek machines, and many others. The center has a large indoor basketball court/gym (rather 2 courts, maybe 3), an indoor track that circles around the perimeter of the basketball courts, but up above on the second floor. I grew up in Littleton, so I knew about, and had previously been in the rec center. My husband had never been in it, so I showed him around first. We wanted to visit family down in Littleton, so we headed south, to the Buck Center first. We live in downtown Denver, and wanted to work out on treadmills today, but alas, on January 1 st, our local recreation centers were closed. ![]() ![]() Buck Community Recreation Center has about everything you could want, in a great setting too. Anyway, I forfeited the remainder of my paid-up membership and haven’t been back. She said, «That’s what the therapy pool is for.» I guess those of us who need pool therapy who do NOT wear diapers are more or less chopped liver as far as the staff at Buck is concerned. When I complained to the woman at the reception counter, she was quite snotty about it. Shouldn’t basic health regulations dictate a separate area for persons who are incontinent? I don’t care how much chlorine they put in the water, I don’t want to be in the same relatively small pool with someone who is probably going to leak urine or fecal matter. Now, I do understand that pool therapy is often beneficial for people who are incapacitated, and I have no problem with that. About the third time I was there, a severely handicapped adult was brought into the pool wearing diapers. I obtained a membership specifically to use the therapy pool, which was recommended by my doctor for some musculoskeletal issues I was having. Admittedly it’s been a couple of years since I last attended this facility and have no plans to return. ![]()
